GOVERNOR’S MONTHLY LETTER AUGUST 2026 Balanseng Buhay Tungo sa Maayos at Nagmamahalang Pamilya By: TLP Noli Calderon Challenge Strong families are the foundation of healthy communities; however, many parents and children struggle in maintaining open communication, mutual understanding, and positive relationships. Busy schedules, economic pressures, and limited opportunities for meaningful conversations often create emotional distance within families. Recognizing this need, the Rotary Club of Pasong Tamo– Banlat initiated a community-based intervention to strengthen family relationships through values formation, responsible parenting, and health education. Action The club launched the Mother and Child Project: “Balanseng Buhay Tungo sa Maayos at Nagmamahalang Pamilya”, benefiting 15 mothers and their children aged 9 to 15. The project included separate learning sessions for each group, allowing them to openly discuss their roles within the family. PE Riza Calderon guided the mothers on topics such as positive parenting, balancing family responsibilities, and creating a loving and peaceful home environment. Meanwhile, PP Lulu Tanchangco encouraged the children to practice respect, obedience, gratitude, forgiveness, and appreciation for their parents' unconditional love. Guided breakout discussions provided participants with a safe and supportive environment to share personal experiences and concerns. The activity concluded with a heartfelt reconciliation ceremony during which mothers and children exchanged letters, expressed apologies, embraced each other, and reaffirmed their commitment to building stronger family relationships. To complement Rotary’s focus on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), sanitation kits containing essential hygiene supplies were distributed, followed by a demonstration on proper handwashing practices. Impact The project enhanced communication and emotional bonds between mothers and children while promoting responsible parenting and positive values. Families learned practical skills for healthier relationships and improved well-being. Through education and preventive health practices, the Rotary Club of Pasong Tamo–Banlat made a lasting impact, empowering families to become stronger and more resilient in the community.
